A highly-regarded and much-liked judoka, Colin Oates showed his standout talent to the world as he fininshed in seventh-place at London 2012 on his Olympic debut.
Oates captured bronze at the 2011 European Championships, fulfilling the ability every training partner, coach and opponent knew he possessed.
The Norfolk judoka has climbed to the upper echelons of the -66kg category with a fifth-place finish at both the 2011 world championships and 2012 Paris Grand Slam.
