Scott McCarthy, Chief Executive of British Judo said: "On behalf of the Board, Commissions, Staff and Membership of the British Judo Association may I take this opportunity to wish our elite squad the very best of luck in Athens.

"We are all fully aware that the qualification process for this Olympiad has been the most difficult to date and you have each achieved a very real and significant objective by booking your passage on this elite trip. That said, I'm sure you will agree that we are not finished yet! Rest assured you have our full support and we will all be keeping a close eye on your progress and results. We are very confident that this might just be a special year. Enjoy and give it your best - that is all anyone can ask."
